07 Mar What Does The Future Hold For Each Of Us?
God, our Father, has a prophetic word for each one of us His children. "For I know the plans I have for you
declares the Lord, plans for welfare, and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11
This was written to Israel while they were in exile in Babylon in a time of some of the worst circumstances of
Israel's History. God was strengthening Israel with these words of encouragement. He was referring to Israel's
future as being filled with "Shalom" or safety, prosperity, well-being, wholeness. He had no plans for Israel
that involved calamity or evil. Neither does He have any bad plans for us, no plans that are wicked or ethically
evil. It is the devil who comes to steal, kill and destroy.
God spoke to Abraham about his future. He told of making him a great nation, that He would bless him, make his name great, and that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through his offspring. WOW! What if God said that to you or me. I believe my first inclination would be to fall down and worship. I know for that to happen, God Himself would have to be partnering, co-laboring with me. I would need Him more than ever. However, WITH God all things are possible. He only calls us to do the impossible. To do the possible, we do not even need Him. This calling to Abraham was contingent on Abraham's choice to obey. He would have to leave his home, family, country and go to an unfamiliar, foreign land. The unknowns were many. He could have refused but he chose to obey.
God, our Father, has created each of us differently. One of the definitions of the word holy is unique. He calls
you holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling....He created you with purpose and a significant destiny.
Just as Abraham's prophetic proclamation carried him through every difficulty, so will God's revealed purpose
do the same for you. You are God's field, God's building, masterpiece. Jesus said the Kingdom of God was like
a treasure hidden in a field, which when a man found he dug it up and buried it elsewhere (for safekeeping).
He then went and sold all that he had and bought the field. The kingdom of God is within you. The treasure is
within you. That treasure that God gives us is a reward. That is how Abraham valued God's prophetic plan for his
life. That plan, purpose, destiny, calling God will not force upon us. We must seek it out. It is the glory of God
to conceal a matter, it is the glory of kings to search out a matter. God hides things for us, not from us. Seek
first the Kingdom.
God's plan for your life when revealed by the Holy Spirit will be the thing you have been searching for all your life. It will so resound with your spirit that nothing will be able to stop you. You will know that it is from God because it will be impossible to achieve. You must have His help. It will be confirmed by others. We can now live a present-future existence where our future influences our present actions and thoughts, not a present-past existence where our past is influencing our present.
Again...God has a prophetic plan for your life Jack Christian
